Account & Data Deletion

Draft · last updated PLACEHOLDER: date

Draft. The process below describes the intended behaviour. Exact retention periods and the request channel are still to be confirmed.

1. Export first

Deletion is not reversible, so take a copy first if you want one. Your documents are stored as markdown files, so an export is a straightforward copy of what is actually there rather than a lossy extract from a database. PLACEHOLDER: where the export control lives and what formats it produces.

2. Deleting from inside the application

PLACEHOLDER: the exact path through the account settings, and any confirmation step.

3. Requesting deletion without signing in

If you cannot access your account, you can request deletion directly. PLACEHOLDER: the request email address or web form, the identity verification required, and the response time.

4. What is deleted

  • Your account record and authentication details, including any linked third-party identities.
  • Projects you own, and every document in them.
  • Everything derived from those documents — passage embeddings, extracted entities and relationships, facts, summaries, motif tags and index entries.
  • Chat history and the per-chat rolling memory files.
  • API keys and webhook subscriptions you created.

PLACEHOLDER: the timeframe within which each of the above is removed from live systems.

5. What is retained, and why

  • Billing and usage records, where retention is required for tax, accounting or audit purposes. PLACEHOLDER: period.
  • Backups, until they age out on their normal cycle. PLACEHOLDER: backup retention period.
  • Shared projects you do not own. Removing your account removes your access and your membership; it does not delete a project belonging to someone else, or content you contributed to it. PLACEHOLDER: how contributed content is attributed or anonymised after deletion.
  • Aggregate operational logs that no longer identify you. PLACEHOLDER: period.

6. Data held by third parties

Content sent to third-party model providers during normal use is subject to those providers' retention terms, which we do not control. PLACEHOLDER: named providers and their retention position, including whether zero-retention terms are in place.

7. Deleting a single project

You can delete an individual project without closing your account. PLACEHOLDER: whether a grace period applies before permanent removal.
